Why Good Security is Essential

On average, an unprotected, brand-new Windows PC is hacked within 20 minutes of being connected to the Internet. In 2008, it was estimated that there would be 500,000 new pieces of malware (viruses, Trojans, spyware etc) designed to attack Windows PCs.

With reference to IBM's 2009 Internet security report, IBM X-force director Kris Lamb stated:
